Jonathan Emmons
PhD, Licensed Psychologist
Growing up in a household where one of my family members experienced profound mental health challenges (Bipolar and multiple personalities), serving the needs of those who struggle with their mental and emotional well-being has always been at the forefront of my studies and career path. And as a parent to children who face their own mental health challenges, I am incredibly committed to providing my expertise to families and letting them know that there is hope and help for them.
As a clinical psychologist, I strive to provide quality and comprehensive testing services for a number of needs and a variety of ages. I have been trained in an extensive number of cognitive, academic, social/emotional, adaptive, and neuropsychological assessments, and I specialize particularly in ADHD, Autism, and psychoeducational evaluations.
In my time working as a school psychologist for 3 years, I enjoyed collaborating with teams to work on complex assessment cases and plan services for a wide range of needs for school-age children. I continue that mindset of careful, deliberate, and evidence-based evaluation in my clinical work. I believe that testing provides the necessary insight as to how a person learns, how they think, and how they interact with others. Whether or not testing leads to a formal diagnosis, it is often an important first step in determining what level of support is needed.
Part of my passion also involves directly working with children and adults to overcome challenges and strengthen skills. My therapeutic approach is rooted in principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and is adapted to each individual’s unique needs.
